Following Donald Trump’s previous announcement that the US Navy will begin blockading the Hormuz Strait and forbid any ship in international seas that had paid a toll to Iran, world leaders have begun responding. Keir Starmer, the prime minister of the United Kingdom, insisted that "we are not getting dragged into the war" and that the country does not support the embargo. The restoration of freedom of passage in the Strait of Hormuz is of "paramount" importance, according to Ursula von der Leyen, head of the European Commission. To take control of maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz, US Central Command announced that it would start a blockade of all Iranian Gulf ports and coastal areas on Monday at 10 a.m. ET (5.30 p.m. in Iran and 1400 GMT).
