US-Iran War LIVE: Tehran Open To Talks With US If No ‘Unlawful Demands,’ Says Iran’s Envoy Fathali
Iran has signaled openness to a second round of negotiations with the United States, but only if its conditions are accepted, maintaining a cautious posture after the failed first round of talks in Islamabad. Ambassador Mohammad Fathali, Iran’s envoy to India, said that if Washington drops what he called “unlawful demands,” another negotiation is foreseeable—and that Tehran remains ready for both talks and war.
On the Strait of Hormuz, he reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to international law and freedom of navigation, while stating that Hormuz lies within Iranian territorial waters and that Tehran will soon lay out its mechanism for the strait’s management.
Fathali also highlighted strong India–Iran ties, describing India as one of Iran’s “five friends” and emphasizing shared regional interests. He noted that 3,753 people, including 221 children under 18, were killed in Iran during the 40‑day conflict.
In a sign of people‑to‑people solidarity, a third consignment of around 20 tonnes of humanitarian aid, funded by Indian donations and sent via Mahan Air, has reached Iran, underscoring ongoing support amid regional tensions.
