US Attorney General Pam Bondi mounted a forceful and combative defence of President Donald Trump during a nearly five-hour House Judiciary Committee hearing, as she faced intense questioning over the Justice Department’s handling of files linked to disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein.
Bondi came under sustained fire from Democratic lawmakers over the department’s release of Epstein-related documents, which has drawn widespread scrutiny. Democrats raised concerns that the files included the names of survivors while redacting the names of individuals who may have committed crimes, without providing clear justification. Lawmakers also questioned whether the Justice Department was complying with a law requiring the full release of Epstein files with only limited and specific redactions.
