Journalist and YouTube creator Ruchi Tiwari has alleged a violent assault by a mob during a protest at Delhi University’s North Campus. The incident occurred during a demonstration involving left-wing student groups and the ABVP over UGC equity rules. Tiwari claims she was specifically targeted due to her Brahmin identity, stating, ‘The girls around me whispered rape threats in my ears just because I am a Brahmin’. She further alleged that members of the mob attempted to tear her clothes and threatened her with a ‘naked parade’. While left-wing organizations like AISA and SFI have accused ABVP members of involvement, the ABVP has denied these claims. The situation at the Arts Faculty escalated as rival student groups held counter-protests, leading Delhi University Vice-Chancellor Yogesh Kumar to urge for harmony on campus. An FIR has reportedly been registered as police investigate the allegations of physical manhandling and intimidation during the protest.
