We all know your spirit of service and how you strengthened it while serving as Governor. I have also seen that while many people feel the pressure of their position or stick to strict protocol, you are different — you are not controlled by protocol.”

I want to mention two incidents from your life that deeply affected you.
As a child, you were drowning in a pond at the Avinashi Temple. You said you don’t know who saved you, but you survived by God’s grace.
Second, just before L.K. Advani’s visit to Coimbatore, there was a major bomb blast where nearly 60–70 people died. You narrowly escaped that tragedy.
Recently, after becoming Vice President, you visited Kashi. You told me something new: earlier, you ate non-vegetarian food, but during your first visit to Kashi, after performing puja and receiving the blessings of Mother Ganga, you decided to stop eating non-vegetarian food. I am not saying non-vegetarian people are wrong — but this experience in Kashi changed you. As an MP, I will always remember this story.”
