US President Trump reacted with fury this week after Iran refused an offer to hold direct negotiations with Washington over Tehran’s nuclear programme.
“If they don’t make a deal, there will be bombing,” said Trump.
Iran, unsurprisingly, has reacted to Trump’s threat with alarm and aggression.
Reports indicate that Iran has placed its ballistic missile launch facilities on high alert.
US bases in the region, allied bases such as Diego Garcia could all be targets
Iran has also hinted at the fact that any US strikes could force Tehran to pursue an active nuclear weapons programme for its own defence.
