Marking a major milestone in defence technology, India successfully conducted the flight trial of its first long-range hypersonic missile on November 16, 2024. Developed indigenously by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), the test was conducted from Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Island off Odisha’s coast. The missile demonstrated its ability to travel over 1,500 km while carrying various payloads with pinpoint accuracy.

Kamat highlighted the achievement as a testament to India’s growing self-reliance in advanced defence technology.
