West Bengal: Shoaib Kabir Reacts After JUP Chief Humayun Kabir’s Son Is Detained For Assaulting PSO

In a significant political development from West Bengal, Gulam Nabi Azad, the son of Janata Unnayan Party (JUP) Chairman Humayun Kabir, has been detained by Shaktipur Police for allegedly assaulting a Personal Security Officer (PSO), Jumma Khan. The incident, which reportedly occurred when the PSO requested leave, has triggered high drama, with Humayun Kabir threatening to gherao the Superintendent of Police’s office. Speaking exclusively on India Today, JUP Spokesperson Shoaib Kabir addressed the allegations, stating, ‘The party will take a fair decision… if it is any kind of problem he made and he should definitely be punished.’ The spokesperson emphasized that while the investigation is ongoing, the party would not spare anyone found guilty, even as he expressed hope for Gulam Nabi Azad’s innocence. The controversy comes shortly after Humayun Kabir, a former Trinamool Congress leader, launched the JUP ahead of the 2026 elections.
