West Bengal police has formed a nine-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the recent violence in Murshidabad. The team, headed by Additional SP Shantanu Choudhury from the West Bengal Police Intelligence Bureau, includes three DSP rank officers and six inspectors. Police suspect a ‘larger, deep and invisible conspiracy’ behind the violent incidents, stating it’s ‘impossible to carry out massive violence without prior planning’.
