West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee launched a scathing attack on the BJP and the Election Commission while releasing the TMC manifesto ahead of the 2026 assembly elections. She accused the Modi government of being against women, religion, and language, calling it a government that ‘loots people through agencies.’ Banerjee alleged that the Election Commission is working on behalf of the BJP and criticised the transfer of several officers and bureaucrats ahead of elections, describing it as an ‘undeclared emergency’ and ‘undeclared President’s rule.’ She claimed the BJP is trying to seize control of the state through coercion and institutional manipulation, citing the deployment of Central Forces, cash hauls, and drug peddling. Banerjee stated that the BJP is using delimitation, NRC, census, and CAA implementation to destabilise her government. She appealed to the people of Bengal to vote against communal forces and protect the identity of Bengal and Bengalis in the upcoming elections.
