The LPG carrier Shivalik has docked at Mundra Port in Gujarat, carrying 45,000 metric tons of LPG, marking a significant development after 17 days of conflict in West Asia that blocked the Strait of Hormuz. The vessel, owned by Indian Shipping Corporation and chartered by IOCL, will offload 20,000 metric tons at Mundra, while the remaining 24,000 metric tons will be transported to Mangalore. A second carrier, Nanda Devi, is expected to arrive at Wadinar Port the following day. Together, both vessels carry approximately 92,000 metric tons of LPG, equivalent to 66 lakh domestic cylinders, representing roughly 1.5 days of national supply. The arrival provides relief to distributors and households after a week-long shortage crisis that impacted restaurants, eateries, bakeries and domestic kitchens across India. India’s daily LPG demand stands at approximately 90,000 metric tons, with about 35,000 metric tons produced domestically and 55,000 metric tons imported daily.
