This comes as Washington pushes a 15-point framework while Tehran remains adamant about its five conditions, saying it will not negotiate while military operations continue. Iran wants a complete halt to aggression and assassinations by the US and Israel, formal recognition of its right to control maritime activity in the Strait of Hormuz, inclusion of groups like Hezbollah in any peace deal, and an end to Israel’s invasion of Lebanon. The White House has hinted the conflict could be over by Trump’s rescheduled China visit on May 14-15, signalling a four to six-week war timeline. However, Iran continues to reject any ceasefire while escalating attacks. Jason Greenblatt, former Trump aide and Middle East envoy, suggests Trump is in talks with someone of significance in Iran, though he believes chances of the kind of deal Trump wants remain quite low.
