The government proposes to make the Waqf Board more secular and inclusive by allowing non-Muslims and women to be members. The Central Waqf Council will have 22 members, including up to 4 non-Muslims and 2 women. State boards will have 11 members, with up to 3 non-Muslims. The bill aims to change the previous requirement of 5 years of Islamic practice for Waqf clearance.
