Waqf Amendment Bill Introduced In Rajya Sabha: Changes In Property Laws & Council Composition
The government proposes amendments to the Waqf Act, including changes to property laws and council composition. The Central Waqf Council will have 22 members, with no more than 4 non-Muslims. State Waqf Boards will have 11 members, with no more than 3 non-Muslims. The amendments aim to harmonize the Waqf Act with other property laws and ensure representation of various Muslim sects and women in the councils.
