Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ is moving through the Mithila region, with a recent stop in Darbhanga. He is accompanied by RJD’s Tejaswi Yadav and other opposition leaders in a show of strength against the ruling NDA combine in what is considered an NDA stronghold. DMK leader MK Stalin is also slated to join the yatra midway. The leaders are advancing a ‘vote chori’ campaign, alleging that elections are not free and fair. A key point being made is that "if the elections were free and fair it won’t be tilted so heavily in favour of the NDA." This yatra is another attempt by Rahul Gandhi to connect with the masses, following the Bharat Jodo Yatra. The event poses a significant security challenge as it is expected to cover 70 to 80 km.
