A brazen daylight murder in Punjab has sparked a political storm after Aam Aadmi Party leader Lucky Oberoi was shot dead outside a Gurudwara in Jalandhar. CCTV footage captured the chilling moment a man in a hoodie fired multiple shots at Oberoi before fleeing the scene. The victim sustained five bullet wounds to the chest and head and was declared dead on arrival at a private hospital. An unidentified speaker criticized the state administration, stating, ‘Punjab has become a gangland in terms of law and order’ and attributed the violence to ‘weak governance.’ While police investigations currently point toward personal enmity, the opposition has targeted the state government over the deteriorating security situation. Authorities are currently scanning surveillance footage to identify the assailant and determine the exact motive behind the targeted killing in the Model Town area.
