This special report focuses on actor-politician Vijay, chief of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), meeting with the families of the victims from the tragic Karur stampede which claimed 41 lives. According to India Today’s Pramod Madhav, the ‘first and foremost thing what Vijay did was that he has met with the families alone and he has apologized to them for bringing them all the way to Chennai’. Held at a private resort near Mahabalipuram, the meeting saw Vijay get emotional while assuring the families of his complete support, asking them to consider him a family member. The meeting was organised a month after the incident, as Vijay could not visit Karur earlier due to security concerns. This comes as the Supreme Court has ordered the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to probe the tragedy.
