Actor-turned-politician Vijay, leader of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), has been summoned by the CBI for the third time for questioning on March 10 in connection with the Karur stampede tragedy that claimed 41 lives in September 2025. The summons come amid the ongoing campaign for the 2026 Tamil Nadu elections, with TVK maintaining it has no connection to the stampede. Meanwhile, AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami has warned Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin about O Panneerselvam, who recently joined the DMK. Palaniswami alleged that wherever OPS goes, that party faces destruction, calling him selfish and claiming he was always the B team of DMK. Union Minister L Murugan from the BJP stated that large crowds at Vijay’s rallies do not guarantee votes, drawing parallels with actor-politician Vijayakanth. Palaniswami also raised concerns over law and order in Tamil Nadu, citing a case of a seven-year-old reportedly sexually assaulted in Namakkal district on Women’s Day.
