Following a horrific stampede that resulted in 41 deaths at a rally for actor-turned-leader Vijay, a top TVK functionary has been arrested for homicide. Matiyazak, described as a top Vijay aide from Karur district, was taken into custody in connection with the incident. He was reportedly part of the internal team that organised the event, where crowd estimates were severely miscalculated; permission was given for 10,000 people, but over 30,000 attended. The report shows the arrested functionary’s wife pleading with police for information. She was also injured in the incident and said, "Neither the government nor the police have responded to us where he is. I kindly plead with you to at least show him once in front of my eyes." The investigation is looking into the significant lapses that led to the tragedy and the ongoing police action against the organisers.
