The devastating mudslide that killed five people and left over 50 people missing as it swept through the Dharali area in Uttarkashi has left the entire region reeling. As the rescue operations continue the question looms what really trigged the natural disaster? According to a report, the village is built on an ‘alluvial fan,’ a landform created by debris from past floods which could have been one of the reason to trigger the deadly floods.
