The critical road link to an affected village remains severed, posing a significant challenge for relief efforts. The Border Road Organization (BRO) and GREF teams are on site, working to restore connectivity. A BRO team member stated, "We fixed this road yesterday as well, the one in front of us. But it got damaged again last night. Because of which the road is damaged again. Now, it is being reopened." This highlights the repeated damage and the continuous efforts required. The road, the only connection to the village, collapsed again after being patched. Aerial support, including Air Force’s Chinook and Mi-17 helicopters, is crucial for moving machinery and personnel, as road access is currently impossible. Evacuation of individuals requiring medical attention from Harsil to Uttarkashi and Rishikesh hospitals is underway. The damage is attributed to heavy water flow, possibly from a cloudburst, impacting the Bhagirathi river’s course. Similar incidents occurred in 2013. BRO aims to restore the road link by tomorrow evening.
