A flash flood in Uttarkashi’s Dharali has caused deadly devastation, swallowing the village and washing away homes and shops. At least four people have died, with several more feared dead. A joint rescue operation involving the Army, ITBP, NDRF, and SDRF is underway, having rescued 130 people so far. The disaster has also affected the Harsal Army camp, with two personnel reported missing. A significant portion of the national highway connecting Uttarkashi to Gangotri has been washed away, complicating relief efforts. The Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Pushkar Singh Dhami, stated, "the government’s top priority is to rescue all those who are still stranded and restore electricity and connectivity back to the region as soon as possible."
