Uttarkashi cloudburst: 130 people rescued till now; CM Dhami to visit Dharali shortly

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday spoke to Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami over the phone and took stock of the situation in Uttarkashi, which was hit by landslides following a cloudburst in the region. As per the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), the prime minister has assured Dhami, who earlier in the day conducted an aerial survey of the affected areas, of all possible assistance from the central government. So far, four people have lost their lives in the incident, while 11 Indian Army soldiers remain missing after their camp was hit by the flash floods. Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that heavy rainfall will continue in Uttarakhand on Wednesday, issuing an alert for districts such as Dehradun, Nainital, Haridwar, Rudraprayag and Uttarkashi.Â
