Dharali village in Uttarakhand’s Uttarkashi district is battling the aftermath of a killer flash flood triggered by a cloudburst. Multiple cloudbursts have been reported, with the first one consuming Dharali village. Images show columns of water, mud, silt, and gravel swallowing the village. Four deaths have been confirmed, over 50 are missing, and many are trapped in debris. Initial numbers are expected to rise. Rescue operations by SDRF, NDRF, and Army columns are underway on a war footing. Most roads to Dharali are cut off by landslides, and bad weather is hindering air rescue efforts. The Prime Minister and Home Minister have spoken to the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Pushkar Dhami. An army camp in Harsil is also damaged, with some army personnel missing.
