Two incidents of deluge devastated the Dharali and Harsil areas of Uttarakhand following a cloudburst at 1:50 PM today. An artificial lake has formed in the Harsil area. Horrifying visuals show people struggling to escape muck and rubble, with concerns that the death toll could increase. "It’s terrible, terrible to think that these people couldn’t be evacuated in time and looks like the death toll could increase." The NX-108, connecting to Gangotri Dham, has been cut off. Indian Army, IBEX brigade, ITBP, SDRF, and NDRF personnel are engaged in rescue operations. The Chief Minister, who was on a trip to Southern India, cancelled it and is reaching the Disaster Management Control Center to strategize the rescue operation.
