Ohio Senator JD Vance joined Trump on the Republican presidential ticket as his V-P. Should the Trump/Vance ticket win, Usha Chilukuri Vance would be the U.S. Second Lady. The daughter of Indian immigrants, Usha Chilukuri grew up in a suburb of San Diego. She met JD Vance when they were both students at the Ivy League Yale Law School. JD Vance says Usha was his ‘Yale spirit guide’ when they were classmates. When she wed JD, they were reportedly blessed by a Hindu pundit in a separate ceremony. Before law school, Usha Chilukuri Vance got a bachelor’s degree in History from Yale University. She also got a Master’s in Philosophy from the University of Cambridge. Usha Vance has clerked for 2 Top Court justices Kavanaugh & Chief Justice Roberts. JD & Usha Vance have 3 kids and live in Cincinnati, Ohio, where he serves as Senator. In a 2022 Senatorial campaign ad, Usha Chilukuri Vance called J.D. her ‘best friend’. She has left her job at the prestigious San Francisco law firm Munger, Tolles & Olson.
JD Vance was first elected to the Senate in 2022 after receiving an endorsement from Trump in a contested Republican primary. Vance, who penned his memoir Hillbilly Elegy about life in Appalachia, once described himself as a ‘Never Trumper’, but when he was running for Senate, Vance later said that he regretted those comments and was a supporter of Trump. Throughout this year’s campaign, Vance has appeared on the trail with Trump and in support of him at various events across the country. He also traveled to New York City during Trump’s hush money trial, where Vance spoke out vehemently against the charges that prosecutors were pursuing.
