The US State Department now requires visa applicants to provide their social media identifiers for the past five years on both immigrant and non-immigrant visa forms. This measure, in place since 2019, is used for visa screening and vetting. Recently, Secretary of State Marco Rubio directed US missions worldwide to implement additional screening measures, particularly for J visas, exchange visas, and student visas. Non-compliance could lead to visa rejection or blacklisting.
