The United States has tested the Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile off the coast of California as conflict escalates in West Asia. The missile was launched from Vandenberg Space Force Base near Santa Barbara. The Minuteman III is capable of carrying a nuclear warhead 20 times more powerful than the bombs dropped on Hiroshima. The intercontinental ballistic missile has a range of 13,000 kilometres and can technically travel 23 times the speed of sound.
