After Syrian President Bashar Al Assad’s administration abruptly fell, the U.S. military launched a retaliatory round of airstrikes against the Islamic State group.
U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) reported that U.S. Air Force B-52 Stratofortress bombers, F-15E Strike Eagles, and A-10 Thunderbolt II attack aircraft carried out dozens of airstrikes against Islamic State combatants, leaders, and camps in central Syria. A senior administration official informed reporters that the plane dropped roughly 140 missiles on over 75 militant group targets.
