US Strike on Venezuela Sparks Global Protests
Global protests have erupted after the United States launched a military strike on Venezuela and captured its President, Nicolas Maduro, on January 3rd. Demonstrations were reported across several cities in the United States, as well as in Europe and South America, with protesters condemning the attack and calling it a violation of international law.
US President Donald Trump said the operation was aimed at addressing drugs, migration, and national security concerns. For months, Trump had linked Venezuela to migrant flows and alleged drug trafficking routes. He later stated that the United States would now “run Venezuela.”
The Venezuelan government has strongly rejected these claims, calling the strike “military aggression” and a violation of its sovereignty. Caracas has accused Washington of seeking regime change, escalating tensions, and triggering worldwide protests against US intervention.
