The United States has sent conflicting signals about its West Asia war strategy within a span of just hours. US President Donald Trump suggested the war could end in two to three weeks, stating the US would be leaving Iran very soon and claiming Iran is begging for a deal. He said the US goal of preventing Iran from having nuclear weapons has been attained, and that it would take Iran 15 to 20 years to rebuild. However, US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth struck a hardline tone, warning that upcoming days will be decisive and calling for more bombs and bigger bombs to finish the mission. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio added that the US can see the finish line, though the end game might not be immediate. Trump also indicated the Hormuz Strait siege is no longer a major point of contention, saying the US will leave soon and other countries can fend for themselves. The contradictory statements have fuelled uncertainty over whether Washington is preparing to intensify or wrap up the conflict.
