Iran claims to have targeted Israel’s F-16 fighter jets in the heart of Tel Aviv using the Khurramshehr-4 multiple warhead missile, marking a significant escalation in tensions. The Iranian forces released new videos of the strikes. The Khurramshehr-4 is an advanced Iranian medium-range ballistic missile unveiled in May 2023, with a range of approximately 2,000 kilometres and a 1,500-kilogram warhead. Its key feature is a mid-phase guidance system that allows course correction outside the atmosphere and resistance to electronic warfare-based terminal defence systems. Named after a city in Iran, the missile is considered one of Iran’s best options for penetrating defence systems like Israel’s, which has successfully protected against strikes from Hezbollah, Houthis, and previous Iranian attacks. Israel has not yet reacted to Iran’s claims regarding the alleged strike on its F-16 jets.
