UAE airport authorities have imposed restrictions that have led to widespread cancellations of Air India and Air India Express flights to Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and other UAE destinations on March 15. Air India has cancelled four out of five Delhi-Dubai flights, while Air India Express has cancelled five out of six Delhi-Dubai return flights and all five flights to Abu Dhabi. Only flights to Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah are operating. Air India issued an update stating they are compelled to curtail ad hoc operations following UAE instructions. The restrictions come as the West Asia conflict enters its third week, with escalating attacks from Iran towards Gulf countries including UAE. Additionally, Akasa Air has joined Air India and IndiGo in imposing fuel surcharges ranging from Rs 199 to Rs 1,300 due to rising aviation turbine fuel costs linked to geopolitical tensions.
