A Bloomberg report reveals that India has played a key role in back-channel talks between the United States and Iran. According to the report, Oman and Turkey have been instrumental in keeping these channels open, with India, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia also playing crucial roles in the ongoing negotiations. The report comes as US President Donald Trump announced a five-day pause in hostilities. A diplomat posted in the region confirmed that Oman, historically a mediator between the US and Iran, along with Turkey, played key roles in maintaining these back channels. The developments coincide with Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar’s conversation with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, discussing security in West Asia and energy security. The US has trusted India and other partners to facilitate dialogue between Washington and Tehran, highlighting India’s growing role as a valuable diplomatic partner in the region.
