Russian President Vladimir Putin has warned that the war involving Iran has triggered what he described as a global energy crisis. Speaking during a government meeting, Putin said disruptions to oil flows through key routes such as the Strait of Hormuz are already affecting global supply chains.
Putin cautioned that oil production dependent on the strait could soon halt completely if the situation continues to deteriorate. Around one-fifth of the world’s oil and liquefied natural gas shipments normally pass through the narrow waterway, making it one of the most critical energy transit routes globally.
The warning comes as energy markets react sharply to the conflict, with oil prices surging and supply disruptions affecting major producers across the Gulf. Analysts say the crisis could deepen if energy infrastructure or shipping routes remain under threat.
