Democratic Senator Richard Blumenthal has raised concerns over the possible deployment of U.S. ground troops in Iran. Speaking after a classified Senate briefing on the war, Blumenthal said he was “dissatisfied and angry” with the information presented to lawmakers.
The senator warned that sending U.S. troops onto Iranian soil could place American lives at serious risk. U.S. President Donald Trump has not ruled out the possibility of deploying ground forces.
According to Reuters, as many as 150 U.S. troops have been wounded during the 10-day war with Iran. The Pentagon had earlier disclosed that eight U.S. personnel were seriously injured.
