Global geopolitics commentator John Rosamondo, speaking with India Today from Washington D.C., discussed escalating tensions between the United States and Iran. Rosamondo stated that the US military ‘should be focusing on suppressing the Iranian capabilities’ near the Straits of Hormuz, noting that B-52s, B-1Bs, and A-10s have been monitoring Iran’s speed boats in the strait. He remarked that ‘the Iranians are dealing with something that they haven’t dealt with before’ and emphasised that while Iran has capabilities that ‘we should respect them,’ they ‘should also fear and respect our capabilities.’ On Pakistan’s offer to mediate, Rosamondo called it an ‘ideal back-channel mediator’ due to its strong relationship with Iran as both are Muslim states with fraternal ties. He cited President Trump’s relationship with Shehbaz Sharif and Pakistani officials as advantageous for diplomacy, stating that ‘when you’re dealing with diplomacy, you deal with the mediators that you can.’
