Following the failure of peace negotiations in Islamabad, the United States has announced a complete blockade of all maritime traffic entering and exiting Iranian ports. The blockade, enforced by the United States military and naval forces, will commence at seven thirty in the evening Indian Standard Time. It applies impartially to vessels from all nations attempting to access coastal areas, including ports on the Arabian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman. However, the military clarified that freedom of navigation will not be impeded for ships transiting to and from non-Iranian ports. The announcement immediately impacted maritime movement, halting all traffic through the Strait of Hormuz. Vessels leaving the strait have already turned around. This development shatters the brief period of eased tensions that followed a recent two-week ceasefire agreement. The waterway had just begun seeing a return of maritime traffic before the negotiations collapsed, prompting the immediate reinstatement of strict blockades and escalating the ongoing conflict.
