Iran’s IRGC claims it has destroyed the $1.1 billion AN/FPS-132 early warning radar stationed at Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, a system capable of tracking ballistic missiles up to 5,000 kilometres. The radar formed a critical part of the Gulf’s integrated missile defence shield and was specifically tuned to monitor Iranian launches. The strike comes amid the escalation of US Operation “Epic Fury,” with Patriot and THAAD systems activated and B-2 bombers deployed as the conflict widens.
