The US-Iran war has witnessed massive escalation on day 16, with intense carpet bombing of Iran including repeated strikes on 90 military targets on Kharg Island, Iran’s crucial oil export hub handling nearly 90 per cent of the country’s crude oil exports. US Central Command released videos showing precision strikes aimed at degrading Iran’s military capabilities, including missile and drone manufacturing facilities, army tanks, artillery and Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps locations across Iran, including Tehran. B-2 Spirit and B-52 Stratofortress bombers carried out deep strikes inside Iran. Israeli defence forces have intensified strikes targeting western Iran. Iranian media reports drone attacks hit a residential neighbourhood in Shiraz, destroying housing units and causing civilian casualties. Iran retaliated with multiple missile barrages targeting Israel and US bases in Iraq and Kuwait. US President Donald Trump stated the terms offered by Iran are not good enough, saying Iran wants talks but he is not ready for a deal yet. Israel’s health ministry reported at least 108 people injured in the past 24 hours. The conflict has expanded to Lebanon, where Israeli strikes have killed more than 700 people, with 800,000 displaced.
