U.S. President Donald Trump has said he is considering deploying a second aircraft carrier to the Middle East as tensions with Iran remain elevated. Trump indicated the move was under consideration amid ongoing diplomatic uncertainty and warned that failure to reach an agreement with Tehran could trigger “very tough” action.
The United States has already expanded its military presence in and around the region, with warships, aircraft and the USS Abraham Lincoln carrier group positioned nearby. The potential deployment of an additional carrier would significantly increase U.S. naval strike capability and force projection in the area.
The remarks follow indirect contacts between U.S. and Iranian officials that have yet to produce a breakthrough. Iran has previously warned against further military pressure, while regional developments continue to heighten concerns about possible escalation.
