This was reported by Mizan, Iran’s state-run news agency. The report states that while there have been initiatives from regional countries to reduce tensions, Iran’s response remains clear: it is not the party that started the war, and all such requests should be directed to Washington, D.C. Iranian state media and semi-official outlets have portrayed President Trump’s announcement on talks as a sign that the United States is backing down in the face of Iran’s pledge to retaliate for strikes on power and energy sites. State broadcaster IRIB reported that Trump backed down from his 48-hour ultimatum out of fear of Iran’s response.
