Iran has accused the United States of causing the failure of the twenty-one-hour peace negotiations, claiming that an agreement on the Islamabad memorandum of understanding was extremely close. According to the Iranian Foreign Minister, the United States shifted its objectives during the discussions and displayed an uncompromising approach. The primary cause of the deadlock was the disagreement over nuclear capabilities. The United States demanded that Iran abandon its nuclear ambitions and surrender its existing stockpile of enriched uranium. However, Iran rejected these conditions, leading to a stalemate. The Iranian President further stated that a peace agreement would only be viable if the United States abandoned its totalitarianism and respected Iranian rights. Consequently, the extensive diplomatic talks concluded without any breakthrough, leaving the nuclear issue as the central obstacle to a potential peace pact between the two nations.
