An American F-15 fighter jet reportedly crashed over Kuwait with initial reports suggesting it may have been a victim of friendly fire after being engaged by a Patriot air defence battery. The pilot ejected safely and was taken to hospital with minor injuries. Following the killing of Iran’s supreme leader, Iran retaliated with dozens of missile strikes targeting Israeli capital Jerusalem and US military infrastructure in Bahrain. The US Central Command released footage of strikes on Iranian military targets including missile and drone launch sites. Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a crucial meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security to review the escalating situation in West Asia with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, NSA Ajit Doval and CDS General Anil Chauhan. Modi also spoke with Benjamin Netanyahu urging protection of civilians and early cessation of hostilities.
