Mandeep Singh, a 38-year-old from Amritsar, Punjab, is among 116 illegal immigrants deported from the US. Singh, who served in the Indian Army for 17 years, alleges that he and others faced humiliation and torture during their deportation. He claims they were handcuffed, shackled, and had their turbans removed. Singh was taken to the US via the ‘donkey route’ after paying ₹40,00,000 to a travel agent. He is now seeking legal action against the agent. The Trump administration has deported approximately 500 Indians as part of its crackdown on illegal immigration.
