The U.S. Supreme Court has rejected a last-minute plea by Tahawwur Rana, clearing the way for his extradition to India over his role in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks. Rana, a Canadian of Pakistani origin, claimed he would be tortured in India due to his ethnicity and religion… but the court dismissed his appeal. He also cited severe health issues, calling extradition a death sentence. The decision comes weeks after Prime Minister Modi met President Trump, with Trump vowing to send the “very evil” Rana to India.
Rana, 64, is known to be associated with Pakistani American terrorist David Coleman Headley, one of the main conspirators of the 26/11 attacks… and his extradition is seen as a big win for India’s fight for justice. In another development, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has called for stronger cooperation between India and China, saying the two nations should support…not undercut…each other. Wang said both countries must work together to accelerate development and use their ancient wisdom to resolve border tensions peacefully.
