Indian export sectors are reacting to a 50% tariff imposed by the USA. The President of the Indian Dairy Association, RS Sodhi, stated the dairy industry will see minimal impact on its small export volume to the US and emphasized that India rightly protected its domestic market by refusing tariff cuts on imports. He noted, "in India, dairy is not a business, it’s a livelihood for 80 million families." In contrast, representatives from the gem and jewellery and handmade carpet industries described a significant blow. Colin Shah of Kama Jewellers highlighted that exports are already down and called for urgent government action, including new trade agreements, to prevent further damage and job losses.
