'Urvashi Not Completely Healed From That Gruesome Show': Christo Tomy On Flood-Shoot Challenges

Filmmaker Christo Tomy, whose ‘Ulluriku’ was named the Best Malayalam Film at the National Awards, has revealed the film’s poignant origins. In an interview, Tomy said the ‘seed of the idea came from my grandfather’s death’ in 2005, calling the family’s need to wait with the body for eight to nine days a ‘haunting memory’ that inspired the movie. The director also detailed the ‘challenging and difficult shoot’, which involved creating artificial floods and filming in water for nearly 50 days. He stated that the conditions were so ‘gruesome’ that actress Urvashi, who won a Best Supporting Actress award for the film, has ‘not completely healed yet’.
