He credited their relationship for the trade deal’s success, stating, ‘The only two deal makers that got this done is President Trump and Prime Minister Modi.’ The Ambassador emphasized that Prime Minister Modi maintained his friendship with President Trump during the four years he was out of the White House, which the President ‘truly appreciates and admires.’ On the trade agreement, Ambassador Gor called it ‘a win-win trade deal’ for both countries, dismissing reports that misrepresent its terms. Despite the US Supreme Court striking down aspects of the trade law, he assured that multiple other legal tools remain available. The Ambassador also addressed India’s Russian oil purchases, explaining that the US position changed due to Iran’s blockading of the Strait of Hormuz and attacks on commercial vessels. He stated that India is now ‘a vital partner’ in ensuring global oil price stability.
