A political debate has intensified in Telangana after a Union Minister wrote a letter to a senior Congress leader questioning the implementation of the party’s six election guarantees. The Union Minister claims that ‘out of the six guarantees, except for the free RTC bus, not a single assurance has been implemented’. In response, a Congress working president from the state has retorted that the Union Minister has no moral right to question their guarantees. The Congress leader challenged the Minister to first question the Prime Minister about promises made 11 years ago, including bringing back black money, depositing fifteen lakh rupees in every poor person’s account, and creating two crore jobs annually. The Congress leader insists the Union Minister should address these unfulfilled promises before criticising the state government’s performance, turning the letter into a significant political flashpoint in Telangana.
